I've avoided it for three years, but I finally succumbed last week, during my first week at the Budapest Centre for Long Term Sustainability (BC4LS).
I think the two factors are related. I have worked from home for the duration of the pandemic, but began in an office building this week. I surmised that my huge office would insulate me from the virus, but I think it's quite probable that it was transmitted through the air conditioning system.
The immediate symptoms are mild--a mild sore throat, some lung congestion, lethargy. My real concern is Long Covid: I hope I'm amongst the 80% who don't get it. The last thing I want to experience in "brain fog".
One obvious precaution is not to over-exert myself, so I will be trying to work below my usual frantic pace, and strenuous exercise will be off the menu until I have had months to build up very gradually (my usual exercise regime involves 3 heavy weightlifting sessions a week).
I know that plenty of you have already been where I am now, so I hope you'll forgive me for somewhat lower productivity until such time that I know my body can survive the rigors without giving the virus the upper hand once more.
Sorry to hear that Steve. Hope it is like my sole bout with it. I have had colds worse than my bout. Herb
Sorry to hear, Prof K.
This may be of interest. I'm not paid in any way for saying this. Just passing it on based on experiences over the last few years.
An epidemiology PhD discovered this during his doctorate work and his subsequent efforts to help folks since around March 2020. He's like you trying to get the word out but has fewer colleagues so the word is pretty much grass roots like this present post.
To come up to speed would suggest a consultation since his protocol which is available for free (linked below) needs explaining and it doesn't sound like you have the time or energy to come up to speed on your own by reading thru the zillion exchanges on his free and paid Telegram channels. A consultation is just a suggestion since everyone is different as far as how this sort of thing is approached. The subject matter and the messenger have their own uniqueness so can take a bit of patience and tolerance to come up to speed as well. The paper linked below will give you a few bread crumbs to start out with though.
Please see links below. Will be praying for you, Prof K. Kind regards, Brian
